But if the caller is not from your contacts, it speaks an unknown number calling you.

  • Headphone & Car: Make your iPhone announce the Calls only when you plug your headphones or if you are driving your car.
  • Headphones Only: Make your iPhone announce the Calls only if you plug your headphones.
  • Then click on one of the above options on the basis of your own requirements or preferences.

Your iPhone speaks the name of the caller only if the caller ID recognizes by your iPhone as a contact. If the caller ID is not recognized by your iPhone as a Contact, it speaks as the unknown number is calling. There are some ways that you can try if the caller ID is not working.

The caller ID stops working because of the outdated carrier settings. It is necessary that you should update your carrier settings to fix the issue of caller ID not showing in the iOS.   • You need to open the Settings and then click on General.
  • Then click on About.
  • Then you need to check if there is any update available.

  • Then click on Date & Time. Then tap on Set Automatically and turn it on.

You can also resolve this issue by resetting the network settings by following the given below steps:

  • You need to go to the Settings and then tap on General.
  • Then click on Reset and then tap on Reset Network Settings.

Siri announces the name or phone number each time when you receive an incoming call. There is no requirement that you view your phone to know who is calling. This feature helps you if you plug the headphones or if you are driving.
