How to reset your iPhone Passcode
You could also have gotten locked out of your iPhone by accidentally pocket disabling where you could’ve accidentally typed out the incorrect passcodes multiples times in a row. Who would’ve thought? By the 6th time you are locked out of your phone!
– Your kid or a newphew/niece or a younger sibling found your phone and tried to get in to play games/watch YouTube and was unsuccessful and in the process locked out of the phone after many unsuccessful attempts!
-OR somebody could’ve been trying to forcefully gain access to your iPhone for stealing it or any other.
The increased safety measures on the Apple devices was a great way of ensuring us users have it easy and feel more secure about tje information we carry in our phones.
But the downside of this increased security being situations where you are locked out of your iPhone!
Why reset your phone?
Resetting the iPhone will return it back to its original settings like it were anew.
This will help your iPhone to work properly. In our case since we our locked out of the iPhone and have no recollection of our passcode resetting the iPhone ensures that phone goes back to the settings when you first bought it.
What to expect when you are Resetting iPhone?
10/10 you will lose all the data on your iPhone. This includes your images, emails, music, applications, contacts, call logs, write ups you may have entered in Notes, personalized settings to name a few.
If you haven’t been backing up all your data to iTunes or iCloud then you can bid goodbye to everything on your iPhone as resetting iPhone will wipe it all away.
Please Note that- When you set up your passcode there comes an option to erase data after too many failed attempts. If you had selected this option on the security settings then your iPhone will erase all teh data after the 10th failed passcode attempt. So ensure that you ALWAYS backup your iPhone!
Here are my 6 easy ways to Reset iPhone 6 when locked!
METHOD 1- Resetting iPhone 6 when locked out using the Recovery Mode
Recovery Mode is a failsafe in iBoot that is used to revive your iPhone with a new version of iOS. It puts your phone in a mode where you can reinstall iOS by connecting it to a computer with iTunes on it.
This method is perfect for people who haven’t enabled FIND MY iPhone on their iPhone 6!
I should warn you, you will lose out on all the data on your phone if you haven’t been backing it up using the iTunes or iCloud!
Step 1- Start off by connecting your iPhone to a computer( Windows/Mac) which has iTunes on it.
Step 2- Now when the computer shows that your iPhone has been connected then force restart on the iPhone by pressing the home button and the sleep/wake button at the same time until your phone’s screen shows RECOVERY MODE.
Step 3- Click on RESTORE when the screen shows up with the message if you want to RESTORE or UPDATE. You will have to patiently for the process to finish up and your iPhone will be unlocked.
Now iTunes will begin downloading software for your iPhone. Note that- you will have approximately 15 minutes for the download to finish, if your iPhone takes longer it will automatically exit recovery mode. Follow the steps above and start the process anew.

After following the above-mentioned steps to the T you will be able to set up a new passcode for your iPhone.
METHOD 2- Factory Resetting iPhone 6 using iMyFone Umate Pro
This method involves downloading this data eraser that will permanently erase all the data on your iPhone including your iCloud. It is a very simple and quick method but alas you may never recover all the mails, images and other files from your iPhone.
Start by downloading iMyFone Umate Pro in case you are a windows user and iMyFone Pro if you are a Mac user.
Note that this method will only work if you had turned the FIND MY iPhone feature on in your iPhone.
Step 1- Install iMyFone on your computer and then connect your iPhone 6 to the computer using your trusted USB cable.
Step 2- After iMyFone has been installed, a box that looks something like image 1 will open up. Click on ERASE ALL DATA from the bars on the left hand side of your screen. Once that opens up click on ERASE(see image 2 )
Step 3- After this type DELETE in the text box that pops up at the bottom and then click on ERASE NOW to begin.

Method 3- Factory Resetting iPhone 6 using iTunes
Please note that this method will work only if you have synced your iPhone 6 to iTunes
It will involve accessing iTunes on your computer and will ensure that all your data is intact, only if you had been backing it all up before you were locked out of the iPhone.
If you haven’t backed up your phone yet then follow the steps below to restore( will work only if your phone is synced with iTunes)
- Open iTunes on your computer
- With the phone plugged into the computer
- Open up iTunes and click on the icon that looks like a phone on the top left corner of your screen
- Click on BACKUP NOW
- Click on eject when complete
The following steps need to be followed to gain access to your iPhone once again
Step 1- Open up your computer and then open up iTunes on it, plug your iPhone to the computer.
Step 2- Wait for the computer sync to the presence of the iPhone. Now click on your device and go to the summary page of iTunes.
Step 3- Click on RESTORE iPhone
Step 4- A dialogue box will pop up that will ask you if you want to back up your iPhone. Click on BACKUP if you didn’t and DON’T BACK UP if you had!
Step 5- After this another dialogue box will pop up that will ask you if you want to restore your iPhone. Click on RESTORE to move further. You will now have to wait for the iTunes to factory reset your iPhone 6!
And Voila you are done.
Method 4- Factory Reset iPhone 6 using Tenorshare ReiBoot

Method 5- Using LockWiper to unlock iPhone 6
This software helps remove the lock screen from your iPhone without the passcode. It supports the 4/6 digit passcode, Face ID, Touch ID etc
The method will permanently reset your iPhone!
Step 1- Download LockWiper on your computer, Choose UNLOCK MODE once the download is complete. Next click on UNLOCK SCREEN PASSCODE.
Step 2- Connect your iPhone 6 and then click on NEXT, once your iPhone is detected click on DOWNLOAD and that will make LockWiper download and verify the firmware package for your iPhone.
Step 3 – Click on START TO EXTRACT to unzip the downloaded files
Step4- Now click on START UNLOCK
Step 5- You will need to enter the 000000 message box that pops up on the screen to double confirm the process and then click UNLOCK. Make sure you have read the message clearly so you dont have to repeat the steps.
Once the process is complete the iPhone will not be linked to any password and you can not easily open your iPhone and change the settings.

Method 6- Reset iPhone 6 using FIND MY iPHONE
Follow this method pray that you had turned on this feature in the settings of your phone at some point. The feature helps you locate, lock or remotely reset your iPhone.
If you have lost your iPhone then this feature is going to be your best friend!
Step 1- Start by Open up iCloud on any web browser. Fill in your ID and password details to access it.
Step 2- Look up FIND MY IPHONE section on iCloud and then click on the DEVICES section. A list of all the devices that are linked to your Apple ID will open up. Select the iOS device that is disabled.
Step 3- After completing the above-mentioned steps you will be able to locate your iPhone 6. Play a sound on the device, Lock it or completely erase it. If you aren’t an iTunes user then click on the ERASE option and then confirm it. Now you will have to wait while your device is being remotely erased. This method will easily disable the iPhone 6’s locks!
And voila you are done.
If you don’t remember password to your Apple ID then click – to reset it and you still aren’t able to fix it. Choose any 1 of the methods before this and in minutes get out of your locked iPhone 6.
