How to Find Deleted Contacts on iPhone

Find Deleted Contacts on iPhone

There are many instances where users have lost their contacts due to the software upgrade of their phone software, while others have accidentally erased contacts when rearranging their iPhone contact numbers. If the user has its contacts on iCloud or Gmail, then nothing to worry about. Everything will be okay as it can be restored quickly to the user’s iPhone.

However, there are many instances where a user doesn’t store them in Gmail or iCloud, and then it becomes difficult to recover lost contacts.  Even though the user has not kept the contacts on Gmail or iCloud, users can retrieve lost contacts on an iPhone with and without using a computer.

How Do I Retrieve Deleted contacts?

According to the statistics, the majority of the users do not back up their iPhones or synchronize their contacts to iCloud. As a result, they won’t be able to recover the lost contacts because they don’t have a backup. If there is no backup, the connections will be removed from the phone’s software, but it is stored temporarily on the internal database for some time, which will still be recoverable. If the user can retrieve them from the internal database and remove the “Deleted” label from the iPhone, then it will reappear in the Contacts application.

There are different methods by which users can retrieve their deleted contacts if they have been lost or erased by the system due to some error. An iCloud backup is the most commonly used method to recover lost contacts by iPhone users. Another feasible option is to use iTunes backup. Lastly, if both the methods do not work, contacts can also be recovered with help from third-party applications.

Either iTunes or iCloud will retain the contact information if the user will require restoring it later. Therefore, finding deleted contacts on an iPhone is entirely dependent on the user having to back up the phone in the initial stage. Another simple way to retrieve lost contacts is to use this option. It does, however, have certain disadvantages.

First and foremost, you must have already created iTunes backups of your iPhone. Unlike iCloud, an iTunes backup is saved locally on a Mac or PC’s hard drive rather than on the cloud. It occupies a significant amount of disc space on your computer. You may simply retrieve your contacts if you have the necessary backup on iTunes. This procedure is similar to restoring from an iCloud backup in that it entirely overwrites your phone’s current data. You can’t choose which data to recover; you have to restore everything.

Method 1: Restoring Contact With iTunes:

Choose the Restore from Backup option

Step 1: Connect the user iPhone to the desktop with the help of a universal serial bus cord USB cord to restore the contacts from iTunes.

Step2: Choose the “Restore from Backup” option present on iTunes.

Step 3: Choose the backup that occurred before the contacts were deleted.

Step4: Select “Restore” from the drop-down menu.

Step 5: Wait for the procedure to complete before restarting your phone. Ensure that the contacts are correctly restored.

Method 2: Restoring Contact With iCloud

Restoring Contact With iCloud

When the user restores the data from the previous version, the upgraded version will overwrite any present calendars, bookmarks, or contacts evident on the iPhone. However, iCloud preserves the user’s current data before restoring an earlier version. This gives the option to undo the restore if required. This is perhaps the most straightforward approach for recovering lost contacts. It is, however, the riskiest option as it will erase all of the information from the user’s iPhone and reset it to factory settings.

Basically, if the user lets it, the iPhone will back up the data automatically regularly. As a result, the user can see what the most recent backup is. The procedure to restore deleted contacts from an iCloud backup is as follows:

icloud login

Step 1: Go to on the register page and log in to iCloud.com.

Step 2: Go to Account Settings options with the help of the drop down menu.

Step 3: Move downwards to the bottom of the page and click on restore Contacts or restore Bookmarks under the Advanced option.

Step 4:  Next to the date, before removing the item, click Restore.

Step 5: Again clicking the “to restore option to avoid any kind of confusion. After the restoration is complete, the user will receive an iCloud.com notification and an email to the address associated with the Apple ID.

Method 3: How To Recover Deleted Contacts With Help Of Third Party Application

As earlier stated, the methods mentioned above are simple to execute but, in certain instances, result in full data loss beyond the backup’s expiration date. In this case, the most promising option is to use a third-party application, “iPhone Data Recovery”. This ensures that any lost or deleted contacts are recovered without any data loss. Retrieving data with the aid of a third party application works even if the user doesn’t have any iCloud or iTunes backups. It can recover data from the iPhone immediately. To retrieve data from third party applications, follow these instructions:

connect iPhone to mac via USB

Step 1: Connect the iPhone to the desktop or laptop with the help of a USB cord. Select the “Data Recovery” option from the menu present in the third party application. Select Regularly backup the “Recover from iOS Device” option is evident on the drop-down menu in the side panel of the next window.

select the Recover from iOS Device

Step2: Start to search, and the user will get multiple options depending on what the user wishes to retrieve. Select “Contacts” from the drop-down menu. Click on the “Start Scan” button present at the bottom right-hand corner of the display.

Step 3: Recover iPhone contacts that have been lost or deleted

Once all the steps are completed, the user will see a preview box where all retrieved data is present. Select “Contacts” from the drop-down menu, and then browse through all retrieved contact information.

Conclusion

The three best ways to restore lost contacts on an iPhone are discussed above. If the user has an iCloud backup for the contacts, then it can be recovered quickly. Another option is to utilize the restore from iTunes backup option. Either of these approaches results in the loss of information. However, if the user does not possess any backup on iCloud or iTunes backup, using a third party application is the most suitable option to recover the lost data.
